Pension fund experience
Muriël started her career in the financial sector as an equity analyst. In 2020 she joined ING in the position of equity investor. Her financial expertise was an asset to the Mergers & Acquisitions Team of ING Group. Muriël is currently risk manager for NN's investment portfolio. More specifically, she has been a sustainability risk manager for a year till October 2023, so she is well versed in the sustainability side of the investments.
Muriël has also been a member of the accountability board of Pensioenfonds ING for six years, for which she chairs the Asset and Liability Management Committee. She was also closely involved in the new Future of Pensions Act (Wet toekomst pensioenen).
Areas of focus
The main question is now: what do we want for NN CDC Pensioenfonds going forward, now that it is a closed pension fund? Muriël points out that no matter what, it is important that the pension fund has a solid financial position. This means the fund's investments need to keep performing well, and that the fund needs to be flexible and meet sustainability requirements. From that position, the fund can make plans for the future.
